Dr Karolina Balciunaite
Clinical Psychologist & CBT Therapist
I am a Clinical Psychologist and CBT psychotherapist, offering warm, evidence-based therapy tailored to you. I specialise in trauma, low self-esteem, anxiety and relationship issues. With over eleven years of NHS experience, I have worked across community, hospital, specialist trauma, learning disability, and child and family services with adults, children, adolescents and families, addressing difficulties ranging from mild to severe.
Therapy with me is collaborative and client-led. I move flexibly between reflective exploration and practical skill-building, gently encouraging you to face what feels difficult, at a pace that's right for you. I am to move through distress, not around it, and build lasting change. I work with adults, couples and families, welcoming all backgrounds, cultures, faiths and identities.
My areas of experience include: trauma and PTSD; low self-esteem; shame; relationship and attachment difficulties, including diverse relationship structures; anxiety, including OCD, social and health anxiety, and panic; perfectionism and burnout; depression; struggles around identity, culture and discrimination, including sexuality and gender (I am queer-affirmative and LGBTQ+ inclusive); neurodiversity, including autism and ADHD; significant life changes; bereavement and grief; long-term physical health conditions.
My work is trauma-informed, culturally sensitive and anti-oppressive, recognising how race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability and identity shape distress, and that difficulties are rooted in systems as much as in individuals.
I specialise in CBT but work integratively, drawing on systemic-based and narrative therapies, attachment-informed practice, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Mindfulness, nature-based approaches, and liberation psychology - tailoring my approach to you, your background and values.
Online sessions are offered across the UK and internationally, with face-to-face sessions in Wood Green and Crouch End, in English and Lithuanian. I also offer clinical supervision to trainee and qualified psychologists.
